Stopping Thought Stopping.
by Peeringin inim sure that many on this forum will be aware of the thought-stopping techniques that are taught by jws/wts to suppress difficult thoughts and overcome cognitive dissonance in favour of reverting back to belief in wts.. often in conversation these will be clear verbal cues that can sound unnatural during the course of a conversation, as though an individual is temporarily reading a script to overcome a difficult point.. my question to you all is this:.
are there any methods or resources that people are aware of that can help to break through a thought stopping mechanism when it is noticeably in effect?
a question perhaps, or technique that will encourage the individual to think the thought through in its entirety?.

Questions, questions, questions.
More specifically, questions that actually invite a person to think about what they believe or think is true.
Avoid making statements or even launch an attack by means of 'questions'. That will only trip them into shutting their minds.
Use questions to make them think. Questions may linger long after the conversation finished.
The goal is to make a person open their mind and think, even if just a little and for a short time.
Maybe next time it will be more....and more....until the avalanche in their mind can't be stopped.
They can only convince themselves anyway..

All contributions collected from this box will be remitted to the branch office to offset expenses associated with this project and the many other projects that are currently under way around the globe.
So, here is an new shiny extra box to donate money specifically towards this local project you really want to support. Then we take that money and use it to build our luxury HQ across the ocean, and pay off tens of millions in damages for child abuse victims....oooohkaay?
What's the use of an added box for a specific purpose, if the money ends up used in exactly the same ways as the money from the existing contribution box?

If we could travel at light speed, would travel be 'instantaneous' for us??
by Bad_Wolf inthis might be confusing to think about.
we know that as you approach the speed of light, time slows down, if you were in a spaceship, time goes by quicker on earth.
we also know that distances between planets and such are measured at 'light years'.

Higher speed means slower passing of time (as compared to time passing as seen from the reference frame of those with the lower speed).
This is actually a very poor explanation by the way 🤣🤣🤣 Naturally both frames of reference are moving with regards to the other, and in each frame of reference it appears that time outside the own frame of reference moves slower.
Regardless, any high speed traveler will appear to have aged less than someone who didn't reach the high speeds. The apparent paradox is solved because the traveler experiences acceleration, which causes asymmetrical time dilation (whatever that may be lol)

The problem with all the "everyone else aged" movie plots is that it ignores the return journey, where the reverse would be happening.
No. Higher speed means slower passing of time (as compared to time passing as seen from the reference frame of those with the lower speed). The direction of travel has no influence on this. So both on the way out as the way back the high speed traveler will age slower than those left behind.
Such is the weirdness and counterintuitive effect of special relativity.
You're right though that in the reference frame of the high speed traveler time will pass at the same speed as usual.

Is the mt2414.com website for elders to report time and service dept info?
by oppostate inhave you ever logged onto the http://mt2414.com/ web site?
is it a mirror domain name or is it for some other purpose?.
do elders report to the service dept.

Yeah, they use Akamai quite a lot. Afaik all JW.org downloads and broadcast streams are also hosted on Akamai. -

I'm guessing you've seen "Interstellar". I can't think of another movie which addresses this issue quite so well.
Huh....yeah I saw that movie, but couldn't remember anything related to time dilation (or anything beyond Sandra Bullock outside a space station).
So I checked out the movie's plot. I found out that Sandra starred in Gravity not Interstellar, and the general description of rang enough bells to remember the time dilation stuff somewhat. I guess it's time to view that movie again.

It's a mirror domain. They have quite a few of these. The purpose is to circumvent censorship and government blockades when the jw.org domain is blocked.
The login is indeed for elders and CO, to receive letters from the branch, email each other, order literature and report hours and stuff.
The same login page is also on JW.org (see "login" in the links on the bottom of the page): https://apps.jw.org/E_LOGIN1

Forgetting the part that we would need literally an infinite amount of energy to get to the speed of light in the first place, time would stand still for someone travelling at the speed of light. So from the traveller's point of view, they'll arrive at their destination at the very moment they hit the speed of light.
http://www.emc2-explained.info/Time-Dilation/
But let's say the traveller reaches a speed very close to the speed of light, and travels a 1000 years from our point of view. Then in their frame of reference they arrive much sooner, perhaps after their calendars, clocks and bodies have progressed 50 years.
This is also one of the (currently hypothetical) problems of interstellar travel: even if we manage to reach speeds close to the speed of light, and manage to travel to another star and maybe even back....the travellers may have survived the trip....but here on Earth a much, much larger time has passed. When the travellers return, their family and colleagues have already died millenia ago. Perhaps even humanity doesn't exist anymore. A strange thing to contemplate. Someone should make a movie out of that :-)
I guess the best way to appear to be travelling close to the speed of light is by being able to exploit 'wormholes', time-space curves, etc.

Nice to see the face with the name!
Also Disney got their impression of witches all wrong! This young lady doesn't appear wrinkly, old, smelly or anything like that at all.
Or was she shapeshifting to deceive us all?
